How to Obtain a State Job:

Applicants interested in a job with the State of Texas should search the “Work in Texas” government job site for positions of interest and select the Job Seeker option for “Find a State of Texas Job,” or search an agency-specific employment page (links above). Select a job posting of interest and review the responsibilities and minimum qualifications. Select “Apply for Job” to login or create an account and complete the online application. You will also need to complete a State of Texas application, which will save to your profile and can be used for multiple jobs. Most jobs will require you to upload your resume and include a cover letter with each application, and you may be required to provide supporting documentation (e.g., a college transcript or your Registered Sanitarian credential). Some agencies may also accept a mailed or faxed application in lieu of the online application portal.

Note: Applicants interested in working for the Office of the Texas State Chemist can search available positions and create a profile through Texas A&M University’s job vacancy website: https://apps1.system.tamus.edu/jobsearch/default.aspx. Jobs with the Office of the Texas State Chemist must be completed through an online Texas A&M application.
