Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) regulates manufactured food, retail food stores, restaurants, foodservice, dairy processing, feed, produce, seafood, shellfish, and bottled water.  The entry level classification utilized by PDA is:

Food Inspection Technician
Annual Salary Range: $41,917-$63,179

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, chemistry, microbiology, or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements: (1) All positions in this job require possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent; (2) Based on your answers to the supplemental application questions regarding education, you may be instructed to upload a copy of your college transcripts to your application.   Unofficial transcripts are acceptable; and (3) Must be able to perform essential job functions.
